Isaiah 58:11 And the Lord shall guide thee continually, and satisfy thy soul in drought, and make fat thy bones: and thou shalt be like a watered garden, and like a spring of water, whose waters fail not.
As I look ahead, I see the waves of the heat shimmering off of the dry and cracked earth. The drought is severe and what was once a lush green field with wild flowers waving too and fro, is now baked brown with gaping cracks that look skyward in hopes of rain. Nothing moves here.
Except me and Father God. As I walk through this desolate landscape I sing out to my Father in praise and in worship and He walks with me, His hands on my shoulders, guiding me through.
As we walk together, talking to one another, His loving touch reassures me, His very Words enrich my mind with His knowledge, understanding, and wisdom. He strengthens my body, just as He did Jesus during His time in the desert. He is my sustenance.
Even though all that surrounds me is dead and laid too waste, I am as a vibrant garden whose caretaker works tirelessly to shape me and to grow me. I am His child and His living water flows through me without end.
I have been so enthralled in our wonder filled conversation as we walk that I scarcely notice that my time in the desert is finished. The coolness of the garden is pleasant and His voice so reassuring and I am so thankful that He is with me always.
