Faith, Hope, and Love are bound to each other. Where one is so are the others, even though they are not of the same importance.
1 Corinthians 13:13 NIV
And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.
1 Thessalonians 1:3 MEV
remembering without ceasing your work of faith, labor of love, and patient hope in our Lord Jesus Christ in the sight of God and our Father.
1 Thessalonians 5:8 MEV
But let us, who are of the day, be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love, and as a helmet, the hope of salvation.
Merriam-Webster defines Hope as:
to cherish a desire with anticipation;
to want something to happen or be true
Hope (the expectation of good)
According to Noah Webster’s 1828 Dictionary it is “Confidence in a future event; the highest degree of well founded expectation of good; as a hope founded on God’s gracious promises;”
Romans 5:1-2 KJVS
1 Therefore being justified (being shown to be righteous) by faith, we have peace (the tranquil state of a soul assured of its salvation, its preservation, its deliverance, its safety) with God through our Lord Jesus Christ: 2 By whom (Jesus Christ) also we have access by faith into this grace (this gift of righteousness) wherein we stand, and rejoice in hope (rejoice in the well founded expectation of good) of the glory of God.
Romans 5:5 NLT
5 And this hope (well founded expectation of good) will not lead to disappointment. For we know how dearly God loves us, because he has given us the Holy Spirit to fill our hearts with his love.
Psalm 71:14 KJV
But I will hope (have a well founded expectation of good) continually, and will yet praise thee more and more.
Romans 8:24-25 MEV
For we are saved through hope (a well founded expectation of good), but hope (a well founded expectation of good) that is seen is not hope (a well founded expectation for good), for why does a man still hope (have a well founded expectation of good) for what he sees? 25 But if we hope (have a well founded expectation of good) for what we do not see, we wait for it with patience.
Hebrews 11:1 KJV
Now faith is the substance of things hoped for (that we have a well founded expectation of good for), the evidence of things not seen.
Worldly Hope verses God’s Hope
Worldly hope is powerless because it doesn’t have God as its power source, it’s based on nothingness.
God’s Hope is a gift to us with the full backing of scripture, the power of God, and the authority of Jesus Christ.
Notes:
Performing like Jesus is done in faith.
