Thanks for the memories of Doughton Park..i grew up in Elkin and most week-ends were spent at Doughton Park for a picnic or the meadows where the huge rocks were located. Have pictures taken of our Chatham family taken on top of rocks.. We would spend the day and hike all over the place. In later years we would drive up to the Bluffs to get country ham biscuits and cherry preserves. My Aunt Louise Mayberry worked at Brinegar Cabin 2 summers, if I remember correctly.. After moving away from NC to Florida in 1946, every visit had to be a meal at Doughton Park.. What wonderful memories for an 85 year old tar heel. Thank you.. You have made my day.. Hayden Joswick
