Praise & Worship 04: Worshiping God

WORSHIP, noun:

  • Chiefly and eminently, the act of paying divine honors to the Supreme Being; or the reverence and homage paid to him in religious exercises, consisting in adoration, confession, prayer, thanksgiving and the like.
  • The worship of God is an eminent part of religion.
  • Prayer is a chief part of religious worship

Hebrew for Worship:

Shachah (shaw-khaw, H7812): to bow down or prostate oneself before God in worship.

Greek for Worship:

From G4314 and probably a derivative of G2965 (meaning to kiss like a dog licking his master´ s hand); to fawn or crouch to that is (literally or figuratively) prostrate oneself in homage (do reverence to adore): – worship.

in the NT by kneeling or prostration to do homage (to one) or make obeisance, whether in order to express respect or to make supplication

When you worship God, you minister to Him (waiter)

I worship Him, I minister to Him, because I love Him and I care for Him as He first loved me and cared for me.

Take time as you read through the Word of God to recognize His attributes, His characteristics, what it is that makes Him God.

We worship God for who He is:

  • Jehovah-Elohim, Divine Majesty and Power.
  • Jehovah-Elyon, Supreme God or Most Loved God.
  • El Shaddai, The Almighty God or God Almighty.
  • Jehovah-Jireh, The Lord Will Provide.
  • Jehovah-Repheka, The Lord Is Healer.
  • Jehovah-Tsidqenu, The Lord Is Our Righteousness.
  • Jehovah-Tsebaoth, The Lord of Hosts or The Lord of Angel Armies.
  • Jehovah-Nissi, The Lord is Conqueror or The Lord Is My Banner or The Lord is My Sign of Conquest.
  • Jehovah-Shalom, The Lord is Peace.
  • Jehovah-Shamah, The Lord is There.

He is Creator: Isaiah 40:28 NKJV

Have you not known? Have you not heard? The everlasting God, the LORD, The Creator of the ends of the earth, Neither faints nor is weary. His understanding is unsearchable.
