In the world, but not of the world.

Glad you’re here with me today, I appreciate taking time out to visit with me.

The trailer podcast that I recently released was a lot of fun and it was hard to keep it around 15 minutes in length. It’s important to me that people know who they are in Jesus and why it’s so vital that they build their life on His foundation.

If you’re not a believer but you are objective or curious, then this is a great place for you. I can’t and won’t try to force anyone to “get saved.” That’s a personal choice that each of us have to make for ourselves and making that decision to please someone else usually isn’t good.

Let’s talk about the world for a moment. It’s gotten so big and so loud that it’s hard for people to know who they truly are. There are so many things vying for our attention that, if we’re not careful, we are constantly bombarded by news, social media, family, etcetera. It can be hard to breathe at times because, for some reason, we have such a pension for the negative and the dramatic. It’s like a disease that attacks the spirit, the soul, and the body.

There is so much irony in this acceptance of being relentlessly bombarded by the negative and we will see it plainly if we will just stop and get peaceful. Everyone of us desires to be loved, to be valued, to be found worthy. When we don’t “feel” like we are any of these things, we surround ourselves with things to block out those “feelings.” That’s why we root for the underdog or we get absorbed in daytime soaps or silly tv series that have absolutely no value in our lives other than to pacify us for a few hours. We complain about the government not doing enough, that it’s their fault that we have such inequality, such despair in our lives but it’s simply not true. The government is no more designed to uplift you and fill the desires of your heart than your car or truck is or that tv series or the alcohol or whatever it is that pacifies you.

Now for some hard truth…it’s my responsibility and your responsibility to be the one’s that uplift, care for, protect, educate, and LOVE ourselves and other’s. Not the lustful, I want to get you in bed love, but God’s LOVE. Let me give you an idea of what I mean here.

John 3:16 For God so loved the world that He gave His only-begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.

Do you see it? He gave the greatest gift that He had to give…Jesus…His own son. Pay attention to the lack of prejudice in this gift. Who did He give this gift to? The world…a world that was an enemy to Him because of the sin that came between us and Him. There’s no qualifier…no race…no ethnicity…nothing, just The Gift. His Son’s life for the life of every person that lived, that lives now, and that will live. Through the Blood of Jesus, God committed to an unbreakable covenant with anyone who would accept it. God doesn’t lie, He doesn’t go back on His Word, or break His rules or promises. We do.

We, the Church of Christ, the Body of Christ, the Bride of Christ are responsible for the condition of this world. I think it’s time that we start taking this responsibility seriously. We need to see the truth and we need to pray and we need to take action. God’s heart is that not one would perish, but that all would be saved. Recently in Seattle a man was shot and killed for holding a cardboard sign supporting a person that someone else hated. The value of that man’s life came down to a cardboard sign. That’s how the person who shot him, saw him. When the peace officers assigned to protect us need our protection and our support, we abandon them. Our military, who truly sacrifice more than we care to admit, put themselves out there daily to ensure that we are indeed a free nation. We should be their greatest fan club and the greatest prayer warriors for these men and women.

If you are involved with organizations that are destructive to God, to this great nation, walk away from them. Get involved in your community in a positive way. It only takes a little effort and you can afford it, there’s simply no excuse. Share a smile, a meal, a kind word. Check in on a neighbor, a senior. Watch out for your neighbor’s child, protect them as Jesus would. We all know that it only takes a split second for tragedy to happen. What if your eyes, your strong arms, or your voice are the one needed in that moment…irregardless of who’s child, who’s grandma, who’s wife is at risk…what if God put YOU there at that precise moment. Are you going to answer that call? Or will you ignore it and let tragedy strike? You have free will which makes it your choice. So before you go blaming God for something that happens, stop and ask yourself…were you God’s answer to that situation?
