You may ask, why is so important to walk in God’s love?
Because if you are not walking in God’s love by choice, then you are, by default (also a choice) walking in hate, or as the Bible says it, wickedness.
1 Corinthians 13:1 MEV
If I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, and have not love, I have become as sounding brass or a clanging cymbal.
There is no power in the Word of God when love is not involved.
We’re not speaking of the world’s “love”, we’re speaking of God’s love, agape.
Love fulfills the law.
Mark 12:30-31 MEV
You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind, and with all your strength.’ This is the first commandment. 31 The second is this: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no other commandment greater than these.”
So how do we get this “Love”?
Romans 5:5 MEV
And hope does not disappoint, because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Spirit who has been given to us.
Receive the Holy Spirit by accepting Jesus as your Lord and Savior.
Now we know that God is Love because of
1 John 4:7-8 MEV
Beloved, let us love one another, for love is of God, and everyone who loves is born of God and knows God. 8 Anyone who does not love does not know God, for God is love.
Because we know that God is love and that He loves us, we can rest in His Word and the power of His might, which performs things for us like:
Romans 8:31-39 MEV
What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us? 32 He who did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him up for us all, how shall He not with Him also freely give us all things? 33 Who shall bring a charge against God’s elect? It is God who justifies. 34 Who is he who condemns? It is Christ who died, yes, who is risen, who is also at the right hand of God, who also intercedes for us. 35 Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? 36 As it is written: “For Your sake we are killed all day long; we are counted as sheep for the slaughter.” 37 No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us. 38 For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, neither angels nor principalities nor powers, neither things present nor things to come, 39 neither height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Isa 54:17 No weapon that is formed against thee shall prosper; and every tongue that shall rise against thee in judgment thou shalt condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the LORD, and their righteousness is of me, saith the LORD.
Isaiah 58:11 KJV
And the LORD shall guide thee continually, and satisfy thy soul in drought, and make fat thy bones: and thou shalt be like a watered garden, and like a spring of water, whose waters fail not.
1Jn 4:4 Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.
There are two places where walking in Love is so vital. The first is in the body of Christ, the Church.
1 Corinthians 12:12, 18, 25 KJVS
12 For as the body is one, and hath many members, and all the members of that one body, being many, are one body: so also is Christ.
18 But now hath God set the members every one of them in the body, as it hath pleased him.
25 That there should be no schism in the body; but that the members should have the same care one for another.
Psalm 133:1-3 AMP
Behold, how good and how pleasant it is For brothers to dwell together in unity! 2 It is like the precious oil (of consecration) poured on the head, Coming down on the beard, Even the beard of Aaron, Coming down upon the edge of his (priestly) robes (consecrating the whole body). 3 It is like the dew of (Mount) Hermon Coming down on the hills of Zion; For there the LORD has commanded the blessing: life forevermore.
The second place that is so vital is outside the body of Christ. We are the witness to the unsaved. Are they seeing anything that draws them to us?
Psalm 1:1-3 MEV
Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor stands in the path of sinners, nor sits in the seat of scoffers; 2 but his delight is in the law of the LORD, and in His law he meditates day and night. 3 He will be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that brings forth its fruit in its season; its leaf will not wither, and whatever he does will prosper.
The world sees us by the fruit we produce.
Matthew 12:33-37 MEV
“Either make the tree good and its fruit good, or else make the tree corrupt and its fruit corrupt. For the tree is known by its fruit. 34 O generation of vipers, how can you, being evil, speak good things? For out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks. 35 A good man out of the good treasure of his heart brings forth good things. And an evil man out of the evil treasure brings forth evil things. 36 But I say to you that for every idle word that men speak, they will give an account on the Day of Judgment. 37 For by your words you will be justified, and by your words you will be condemned.”
1 Timothy 2:1-6 KJV
I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men; 2 For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty. 3 For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour; 4 Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth. 5 For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus; 6 Who gave himself a ransom for all, to be testified in due time.
Pay attention to verse 1,4, and 6. God is no respecter of man. Why should we be? God knows the heart of a man and we need to have such an intimate fellowship with the Father that we can hear Him and See what He does, just as Jesus did.
I recommend reading Matthew, chapters 5, 6, and 7. Also Romans, chapters 8 and 10. This should help you to understand love as it was modeled by Jesus and also the new birth and spirit life.
