Matthew 6:33 NASBS 33 But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.
Matthew 6:19-21 NASBS 19 “Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. 20 But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys, and where thieves do not break in or steal; 21 for where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.
God wants you to seek Him first, to put Him before everything else in your life. When you do this, it allows Him to do abundantly above and beyond your expectations. Don’t limit God by your expectations, His checkbook is limited only by you.
Take notice of the position of the verses here, do not store up treasures on earth comes before store up treasures in heaven. Now, taking verse 33 into account we can see that what the word is saying here is store up your treasures in heaven by putting God and His words, His things, and His works before your own plans. Remember, we are always sowing seed, good or bad, and when we are doing God’s words, things, and works, we are sowing those things into the kingdom of God. We are able to draw on this heavenly account here in the earth…remember seedtime and harvest shall not pass away so there must be a harvest on every seed sown. Here, in this world, God is able to honor you because you honor Him and He will give you the desires of your heart. He will get you your wants, needs, and desires because you have put Him first. You can’t out run it, doesn’t the word say that the Blessing will overtake you? So verse 19 is God saying put me first and let me take care of what you need, want, and desire in the earth. This world will tell you that’s not possible, that God can’t or won’t do that for you…what are you going to say to the world?
