Fear & Hate 02: No Faith

God is Love

1 John 4:18 KJVS There is no fear (G5401 phobos – dread, terror) in love; but perfect love casteth out fear (G5401 phobos – dread, terror): because fear (G5401 phobos – dread, terror) hath torment. He that feareth (G5399 phobeo – to be alarmed, reverence) is not made perfect in love.

Deuteronomy 32:20 NKJV And He (God) said: ‘I will hide My face from them, I will see what their end will be, For they are a perverse generation, Children in whom is no faith.

There is a direct correlation between faith, fear, and perversity.

Matthew 17:14-21 NASB When they came to the crowd, a man came up to Jesus, falling on his knees before Him and saying,

15 “Lord, have mercy on my son, for he is a lunatic and is very ill; for he often falls into the fire and often into the water.

16 I brought him to Your disciples, and they could not cure him.”

17 And Jesus answered and said, “You unbelieving and perverted generation, how long shall I be with you? How long shall I put up with you? Bring him here to Me.”

18 And Jesus rebuked him, and the demon came out of him, and the boy was cured at once.

19 Then the disciples came to Jesus privately and said, “Why could we not drive it out?”

20 And He said to them, “Because of the littleness of your faith; for truly I say to you, if you have faith the size of a mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move; and nothing will be impossible to you.

21 But this kind does not go out except by prayer and fasting.”

When there is a lack of faith, there is no authority and no power to command the enemy.

Matthew 14:26 KJVS And when the disciples saw him walking on the sea, they were troubled, saying, It is a spirit; and they cried out for fear (G5401 phobos – dread, terror).

Luke 1:12-13, 65 KJVS

12 And when Zacharias saw him, he was troubled, and fear (G5401 phobos – dread, terror) fell upon him.

13 But the angel said unto him, Fear (G5399 phobeo – to be alarmed) not, Zacharias: for thy prayer is heard; and thy wife Elisabeth shall bear thee a son, and thou shalt call his name John.

65 And fear (G5401 phobos – dread, terror) came on all that dwelt round about them: and all these sayings were noised abroad throughout all the hill country of Judaea.

2 Corinthians 11:3 KJVS But I fear (G5399 phobeo – to be alarmed), lest by any means, as the serpent beguiled Eve through his subtilty, so your minds should be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ.

Galatians 2:12 KJVS For before that certain came from James, he did eat with the Gentiles: but when they were come, he withdrew and separated himself, fearing (G5399 phobeo – to be alarmed, reverence) them which were of the circumcision.

Luke 12:1-12 NASB Under these circumstances, after so many thousands of people had gathered together that they were stepping on one another, He began saying to His disciples first of all, “Beware of the leaven of the Pharisees, which is hypocrisy.

2 But there is nothing covered up that will not be revealed, and hidden that will not be known.

3 Accordingly, whatever you have said in the dark will be heard in the light, and what you have whispered in the inner rooms will be proclaimed upon the housetops.

4 “I say to you, My friends, do not be afraid of those who kill the body and after that have no more that they can do.

5 But I will warn you whom to fear: fear the One who, after He has killed, has authority to cast into hell; yes, I tell you, fear Him!

6 Are not five sparrows sold for two cents? Yet not one of them is forgotten before God.

7 Indeed, the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Do not fear; you are more valuable than many sparrows.

8 “And I say to you, everyone who confesses Me before men, the Son of Man will confess him also before the angels of God;

9 but he who denies Me before men will be denied before the angels of God.

10 And everyone who speaks a word against the Son of Man, it will be forgiven him; but he who blasphemes against the Holy Spirit, it will not be forgiven him.

11 When they bring you before the synagogues and the rulers and the authorities, do not worry about how or what you are to speak in your defense, or what you are to say;

12 for the Holy Spirit will teach you in that very hour what you ought to say.”

The world hates God and has the ability to kill the body, but does not have the ability to cast into hell.

Supporting Verses

John 15:18 NASB

“If the world hates you, you know that it has hated Me before it hated you.

Luke 12:22-32 NASB And He said to His disciples, “For this reason I say to you, do not worry about your life, as to what you will eat; nor for your body, as to what you will put on.

23 For life is more than food, and the body more than clothing.

24 Consider the ravens, for they neither sow nor reap; they have no storeroom nor barn, and yet God feeds them; how much more valuable you are than the birds!

25 And which of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life’s span?

26 If then you cannot do even a very little thing, why do you worry about other matters?

27 Consider the lilies, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin; but I tell you, not even Solomon in all his glory clothed himself like one of these.

28 But if God so clothes the grass in the field, which is alive today and tomorrow is thrown into the furnace, how much more will He clothe you? You men of little faith!

29 And do not seek what you will eat and what you will drink, and do not keep worrying.

30 For all these things the nations of the world eagerly seek; but your Father knows that you need these things.

31 But seek His kingdom, and these things will be added to you.

32 Do not be afraid, little flock, for your Father has chosen gladly to give you the kingdom.

When we have faith in God and speak God’s Word, refusing to speak doubt, we put the Holy Spirit to work.
