Psalm 23:1-6 MEV
1 The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want.
2 He makes me lie down in green pastures; He leads me beside still waters.
3 He restores my soul; He leads me in paths of righteousness for His name’s sake.
4 Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil; for You are with me; Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me.
5 You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; You anoint my head with oil; my cup runs over.
6 Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the LORD forever.
1 The LORD is my shepherd (He tends to me) ; I shall not want (I do not lack any good thing).
2 He makes me lie down (to stretch oneself out) in green pastures (pastures of tender green grass); He leads me beside still (peaceful) waters.
3 He restores (returns to original condition) my soul (living being, mind, will, and emotions); He leads (guides) me in paths (trenches) of righteousness (rightness) for His name’s sake.
4 Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear (be afraid, will revere) no evil; for You are with me; Your rod (sceptre, mark of authority) and Your staff (sustenance, support of every kind), they comfort me.
5 You prepare (arrange, lay in order) a table (of king’s table, a meal) before me in the presence of my enemies (adversaries, distresses, harassers); You anoint my head with oil; my cup runs over (saturation, satisfaction).
6 Surely goodness (pleasant, agreeable, excellent) and mercy (loving kindness) shall follow (pursue) me all the days of my life, and I will dwell (remain, sit, abide) in the house (dwelling, shelter) of the LORD forever.
