Ephesians 1:17-18 KJV
17 That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give unto you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him:
18 The eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that ye may know what is the hope of his calling, and what the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints,
17 That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory (splendor, brightness, magnificence, excellence, preeminence, dignity, grace, majesty) may give (bestow a gift) unto you the (through the Holy Spirit) spirit (they were already believers baptized by the Holy Spirit) of wisdom and revelation (disclosure, laying bare) in the knowledge (full discernment) of him (God):
That God desires to bestow a gift, through the Holy Spirit, of broad and full intelligence, laying bare the full discernment of God Himself.
18 The eyes (eyes of the mind, the faculty of knowing) of your understanding (deep thought, mind) being enlightened (to light up, to bring to light, render evident); that ye may know (perceive) what is the hope (joyful and confident expectation) of his calling (invitation), and what the riches (fulness, abundance, plenitude) of the glory (splendor, brightness, magnificence, excellence, preeminence, dignity, grace, majesty) of his inheritance (possession) in the saints (most holy thing, believer),
That the eyes of your mind be increasingly brought into the light of His knowledge, His wisdom, His understanding that you perceive what is the joyful and confident expectation of His invitation to be His sons and daughters, basking in the fulness of the splendor of His inheritance in every believer.
That God desires to bestow a gift, through the Holy Spirit, of broad and full intelligence, laying bare the full discernment of God Himself. That the eyes of your mind be increasingly brought into the light of His knowledge, His wisdom, His understanding that you perceive what is the joyful and confident expectation of His invitation to be His sons and daughters, basking in the fulness of the splendor of His inheritance in every believer.
